Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Yesterday was Thanksgiving!! It was a great day... lots for wonderful food, family time, and relaxing time. It was just a nice peaceful day that reminded us we have so much to be thankful for.
I say "yesterday" was Thanksgiving but to me it still feels like today because I haven't been to be yet (it is currently 11:01 am November 26th). I woke up around 8am November 25th and thanks to black Friday I have yet to go to bed! I am extremly tired but I am also just about completely done with all my Christmas shopping! I just have a few more things to get that I'm DONE!

WAY BEHIND

Of course I've fallen way behind on posting! Sorry about that. Lots of big events about to happen around here though! First of all THANKSGIVING... this Thursday will include lots of food and family time and I'm hoping a little rest because I'm getting my shopping on at MIDNIGHT! I'm basically done Christmas shopping but I honestly find black Friday fun hahaha crazy I know. Then in a couple of weeks Talan will be turning 3!!! That's even more crazy than black Friday shopping. I can't believe he is already almost 3 years old. Then we have Christmas and New Years of course. And after all the holiday fun I will be starting at JBU. I'm so excited to be starting a whole semester earlier than planned because obviously that means I'll get done quicker which will be so amazing.
Well there's a quick run down of whats to come and my future reasons for being behind :)

September Update

We've been having some busy weekends this month! There is something going during each one it seems like!
Let's see... Well the weekend of September 6th we traveled to Dallas, TX for the Shiloh vs Euless game and while Shiloh did have some good times they just couldn't pull out the win time :( those Euless kids were HUGE! But it was still a good trip... and Gloria and I discovered that while the men have a difficult time finding their way around Dallas we were able to easily search out the mall :)Seeing Cowboys stadium was awesome it really is everything you hear about and Talan had SOOOO much fun! He was in his own little heaven being there.





The weekend after the Dallas, specifically September 11, I went to Eureka Springs with my friends Kristin and Cheryl. It was some much needed girl time! We just went shopping, went to dinner, and then hung out at the hotel but it was so nice to relax.


We have also started attending a new church! It's called The City Church and Walt's friend Colby is one of the pastors that has started it. We really like it there and so does Talan. I'm so happy that we are going on a regular basis now.

SEPTEMBER 17th was my BIRTHDAY :) yep I'm now offically in my mid-twenties and half way to 50! It's ok though I'm not worried about aging because with age comes more babies ;), a college degree, many more years of marriage and lots more memories. The 17th was fun because I was able to go out with some friends, my sister, and an aunt to Jose's and just have a good time.


THEN on the 18th my aunt Debbie had a hoe-down party that was a lot of fun! The whole family (for the most part) got together and there were PONIES... YES PONIES the kids loved it. (pics will be posted soon)

AND THEN... on the 19th we had another family cookout at my parents house for my birthday... it makes me smile that I still have friend parties and family parties for my birthday and the fact that I still make a birthday list... some things will never change :)

Phew!

I know I know I'm WAY behind.... and instead of trying to catch up from the last month, which would obviously take forever since I haven't even the time to update, I'm just gonna hit some high points: we've gone to SDC, the park, school started, visited the Tulsa zoo... That about sums it up hahaha. The most recent was going to the tulsa zoo. It was Talan's first time to go and he LOVED it! When we first got there we were having to drag him away from things because he didn't realize just how much there was to see! It was such a nice day too. Yes it was hot, like 95 degrees hot, but it was still a really nice day to spend at the zoo.

Snow Cone Day

Got a wonderful surprise at work this afternoon! Michele and Bryan (2 of my bosses) brought us snow cones from Frozen Tung! I got fuzzy navel mmm... very good!! A big THANK YOU to them!!


And I do have pictures that I need to post to update from the rest of the week but some of them just have been uploaded on the computer yet! I should really get on that tonight :)

Something very big happened Wednesday! This was the first night we took Talan's binky away and did not give it back! Broke my heart to see him cry and ask for it :( he just kept saying "but I want it though" it was trying but Lathon stood strong which meant I had to too and it was a successful night!

I had very early Friday morning! We were having a breakfast food day at work so I got up at 5am to cook. Yes I got up at 5am! Anyway I made French Breakfast Puffs (a recipe from my Pioneer Woman cookbook) and they were sooooo good and so easy to make! Everyone loved them!

I strongly suggest you make them as well!

We went swimming today! So much fun of course. Talan loved it and showed off his new swimming skills that he learned in NC. He does so good.




I discovered something today... McDonald's is using real Happy Meal boxes again! I was so excited about this because those cheap little bags they changed to years ago are so boring.

Today we went to the lake one Blake's boat. It was Talan's first time on a boat he LOVED it. He wasn't to fond how hard the wind blew when we were going fast but over all he had a lot of fun. Oh and now he has his very own life jacket and he actually liked wearing it.

I MUST tell you about our dinner tonight... I make THE BEST mashed potatoes! Again another recipe from the Pioneer Woman cookbook. I could literally eat them until I was sick they are SSSOOOO good!!!

I am proud to say that my son is doing VERY well with potty training! He really likes the fact that he gets to wear big boy underwear now. Still having an accident every now and then but he's doing very good and I'm so proud of him (the joys of being a mom:))

Pond Joys

Couple of things today... First of all I have the best little helper! Talan throw a fit tonight to wash dishes hahaha. So we pulled a chair over the sink and he rinsed all the dishes and handed them to me so I could put them in the dish washer. Now if I just make sure he continues to enjoy doing the dishes that will for sure be his duty!




After dinner and doing dishes we went over to my parents house to watch Big Brother. My parents have had a pond in their backyard for as long as I can remember it's been redone a couple of time but it's always been a part of the family. Now Talan is getting to experience it's excitement. We were watching tv and talan just randomly says "mema I wanna see the fishes" so of course we all end up in the back yard looking at and feeding the fish. It's just amazing how the little things in life like a backyard pond with some fish in it and excite someone especially a child and allow a family to spend a little of quite time together.

Family Date Night

I went on a family date night last night with my parents and sister, Talisa. We went to see Salt at the Springdale Malco. I didn't know that it was only $4 to see a movie on weekdays/nights! Guess I have found something new to during the week. Salt was really good and it was nice spending time with family.

Talisa noticed something kinda funny...it must have been family date night for others as well because while we were the first people there, and thinking we could possibly be the only people there, as others started to show up it was other small groups of families. There were like families and then one guy by himself. Weeknight late movies are the way to go for sure!

For Monday

Goodness I'm already getting behind! Had a good Monday which is really saying something because who REALLY ever has a good Monday? Talisa is in town so we got to go shopping... WOOHOO! Got several new things from Express which of course makes any day a good day :). We took Talan with us and he was so cute. After shopping for about an hour he was ready to play. We told him that he could right the little merry-go-around and he got SOO excited! So I go to the counter to check out and Talisa took him to ride... well I come out and he asked to do it again and I found out he had already rode twice and Talisa was putting another dollar in for his 3rd time! hahaha he has such a good aunt.


Talan loves looking at the little pound in the food court so we went to get some dinner and then let him look in the pond for a while. Of course he noticed there was money in the water so he wanted some so Talisa and I started pulling pennies out for him to throw, which again made him very happy and kept him entertained for a while.

Overall our mall trip was a success and a good time and we all left happy... oh yeah and it was pouring down rain when left so that was fun too having to run to the car in the pouring rain.

And to top the night off we had a little cuddle time at the house :)

Weekend Catch Up

So I had a wonderfully eventful weekend! To start things off Friday evening while I was getting ready for a girls night my brother-in-law, Walt, showed up at the house with a coffee maker for me!! I was surprised and so happy. AND it's even my favorite color, red!

I already knew it was going to be a good weekend.
Then Saturday morning my parents and I got up early and headed to Russellville to help my sister, Talisa, move into her new house. We got all her furniture moved in and set up, had lunch, and then headed back home... it was a quick trip. BUT on the way home we stopped in Alma and went to this store called A to Z and got my new chair!

I found it last weekend and loved it but didn't have a way to get home so I couldn't get it BUT it worked out so perfect because Alma is between Russellville and Springdale so picking it up Saturday was on the way! I was VERY happy and it looks so good in my living room :). THEN after getting home from Russellville I got ready and drove to Springfield, MO to see a couple of my friends from college (I was on the road a lot Saturday). Melissa, Lara, and I went to a nice dinner and just spent time getting caught up with each other and having a fun girls night.

THEN Sunday morning I get a phone call from Lathon telling me that Talan WAS COMING HOME EARLY! I was so excited I got in the car right then and drove home from Springfield. Talan had been in North Carolina for over a week and I missed him so much.

This was the first time in 11 days that I had seen him and I was one happy mama. He is so funny too. The first thing he wanted to do when he got home was play football. He went and found his helmet, gloves, and football and just wanted to play. He said "Mama I wanna play football... you watch me?" it was so sweet and of course I was happy to watch him. We spent the whole evening together and had a few visitors that missed him too and just couldn't wait to see him.
While weekends are supposed to be relaxing and all I'm so glad this past weekend wasn't because so many wonderful things happened and it was by far the best two days of the week!

Good Morning

So I've developed a new habit over the last couple of weeks... COFFEE!!! It really does make my mornings better. The other day my friend Danielle said "Folgers really is the best part of waking up" and I couldn't agree more! This is what every morning looks like for me now
The only problem is I don't have a coffee maker at home! So on the weekends I'm in like crises mode because I don't get my morning coffee... This probably isn't a the best habit to develop at 24 years of age but hey it makes me happy and life's to short to not be happy right? :)

Getting Started!

Well I've decided to give blogging a try.... I want to capture the little things in life and I figure the internet is best to do that and share what is going on with me and my family for those that are interested. I'm guessing that a majority of post will be about Talan or shopping since those are my two joys in life :).

To kick things off... Talan is still in North Carolina! I'm going crazy with out him! He has been gone since last Thursday (7/15) and won't be home until like Sunday (7/25). But I know he's having a lot of fun and apparently he has learned to swim! My baby is getting so big :(. He was tuckered out after swimming.


I finish one of my summer classes tomorrow (yay!)so a little more free time is just around the corner.

Hopefully I will be successful at blogging so keep me accountable :) til next time!
